I don't know what to do some days so I just need to sing more for the hell of it. If I overthink it I'll never upload anything and I do my best if I don't get too formal with the recordings or editing so Here it is! I fade out the end because it's just instrumental after a point. RIP RJD

The EASIEST way to categorize types of screams (harsh vocals) for learning!
I love garlic my type of singing.. it’s a classic necessary rock voice!
Had to play the Chris Stapleton version to make up for this 😂
Very cool I've been wanting to use what blackie lawless uses for his voice
Why would anyone want to do this ?
I’ve been asking myself that for years and yet somehow here I am making weird noises 😆🤷♀️
You gave me amazing tutorials on screams and distortion, thank you alot! Yet i cant unsee the resemblance between you and Maria from SH2
Interesting!! Fun side note: I did all of the screams and effort sounds for the Cybil Bennett SH character in Dead by Daylight 🤘
Soo… maybe I’m special but I’ve never had trouble with the national anthem I can even sing it in two octaves
Es una excelente banda. Desde Que los descubrí no dejo de oírlos.
Does it help to physically push the belly with the hands to get a feel of what support should feel and sound like? 😁
Mary is the best and is one of the most talented and communicative teachers in the scene. She does so good at making the new singers comfortable with experiencing new techniques through her descriptive language. So underrated 🔥 ❤
Thank you so much for the meaningful comment! 🖤
Great comments, 2 awesome singers. Another band from Siberia, (Otyken) an indigenous group that has combined traditional folk with pop, rock, edm, house and other genres. They have many live and OMV to choose from. Thanks for your time and sharing your knowledge.
I’m 15 years old, my lowest is a B2 and my highest is a C#6 (not a belt) I’ve been told I can fall into the contralto territory but I’ve also been told my voice is too “bright” for it 😢
This is probably going to be contralto when you get older and for now at 15 probably mezzo will fit well but definitely this was me and It settled into contralto in adulthood. Timbre will also darken later but I really disagree with coaches who classify people by tone color and not voice range because regardless of how bright or dark your vocal tone is, your range is what it is and your cords are what they are and the belt break will still be in the same spot. So having a contralto note range and calling ourselves a mezzo won’t help much because timbre isn’t going to change where my belt break is. Except because you are young so Mezzo may temporarily feel comfortable. If you get older and it settles upwards (which can happen) then it’s mezzo. But my voice is technically a little bright compared to the other contraltos out there but it doesn’t matter because I still need to move the keys of songs to fit my contralto belt break my tone won’t change much in regard to that so range over tone
My vocal range as a guy(most probably baritone) is C#2-Bb4-Bb5, and my consistent range would be Eb2-G#4-Eb5, But i have some real trouble singing high.
Another thing I suspect she was wrestling with was a live autotune. I watched another video where this performance was piped through some pitch monitoring software and it was trying to snap the performance to the lines. But yeah, aside from being drunk, I think the other thing messing her up was singing unaccompanied so that she didn't have another note to reference and if you start to deviate from your initial scale, you will find that you may start snapping to weird lines later on in the song. In addition, she seemed to take liberties with the melody where she takes it up the scale rather than down the scale or vice versa at times. Not sure how intentional this was or if she was just drunk to the point of not knowing which part of the song she was singing. The ultimate performance is from The Naked Gun though.
Agreed! I hear some kind of chorus or pitch correction or something in these vocals
RIP Avril
I can reach G2, but I sang as a soprano in a professional choir for years. In fact, I didn't discover my chest voice till my 40s. I thought I could only sing from E4 to E6. I couldn't sing pop songs bec my head voice only went down to E4. After, I worked with a pop singing coach, I discovered my chest voice and she thought that I might be a contralto. I don't know. I've since developed a mix voice and can sing below E4 but I feel that I sound like a mezzo like Adele not Karen Carpenter. I sound like a man around C3 region. But it requires a noticeable switch in voice. Still working on smoothing out my range and sounding less manly in the lower range and more dark in the C4 to C5 range. I've finally developed power and ease in that C4 to C5 range but I still cannot siren without a hump. If I siren from low notes, I flip at E4. If I siren from high notes, I flip at A3/B3. Am I mezzo or contralto? In my head voice, I definitely sound like a soprano not a mezzo as my voice is clear and bright and loud. More importantly, how do I connect the chest and head voice smoothly? It's easy for me to sing Celine Dion songs. Harder to sing Adele songs because her songs sit in my passagio. I can sing the low notes of Karen Carpenter songs comfortably but I struggle to stay in chest voice for the whole song, usually have to shift to a mix or head voice for the higher notes. I'm confused.
It sounds like you might fit into one of the exceptions which is a good thing but a little harder to navigate. It sounds like you have a wider range than normal kind of like a Mariah Carey who could actually sing really low as well. But there is no way in hell I would call her a contralto or mezzo - she’d be an exception which does happen like any other body part it can be exceptionally shaped cords that give us a closer to 4 octave overall range. For this stuff disregard how your timbre/tone sounds compared to some of the other people because you would be an exception but also tone and timbre don’t really change where our belt breaks are. It sounds like you’re a wide range singer with contralto. and mezzo capabilities but probably with a mezzo belt break rather than contralto. I also sang soprano in high school (due to shortage of people maybe? hahaha) but I can’t go anywhere near notes above C6. So I don’t fit into any exceptions. This may mean that you also need to be more flexible with changing the key of songs to fit your break rather than other people’s breaks. Hope that helps!
It’s not hard to sing. It depends on who sings it😮
I would like to suggest listening to this girl: 【LIVE映像】愛して愛して愛して PEACOCK THEATER Los Angeles, CA 2024.3.29【Ado】 She is 21 years old, and she is already the most popular, top 1 singer in Japan ruclips.net/video/HmkbBdD8044/видео.htmlsi=sI6AbacQ_rgf4F-S
Not sure why this video appeared 3 years later, but I wonder what she thinks of Michael Jagmin from A Skylit Drive.
She just has a team behind her that wanted to give it a more pop sound. So she could be the punk “princess” I love avril can’t wait to see her at her greatest hit concert
Now it is official that i am a contralto😊❤
You should react to dimash if you havent already he is the best singer in the world!
I have some good Dimash reactions up on the channel!
I cannot watch this without getting second hand embarrassment 😩😩😩 she was worse than fergie
It’s kinda wild tbh 😆
At least Fergie stayed in tune. But turning it into a sensual jazz number was not the best idea.
I’m actually highly curious because I used to be a soprano/mezzo-soprano range. However, after contracting the C-19 in 2021, I lost at least .5- almost 1 full part of an octave (my highest portion of my range). I have found singing down in the lower parts of Mezzo and upper portions of contralto feels much more comfortable now.
Michael McDonald is the unfortunate bastard that started that foul sound. Listen to his music and be nauseated.
Long time fan, glad you’re still going strong. Your placement video remains one of the most helpful. Still feels like this is indispensable knowledge even if this was a wasted performance and you hit the nail on the head about how a wasted performance can vary from person to person!
Sorry, but she’s not a singer
She is lying about the alcohol messing her up….she just can’t sing big songs like this period. None of her songs are like this, they are all like “sing-talking” She has probably used autotune for so long in the studio that she forgot her actual skill level singing live.
So what I'm taking from this is talent is beat by preparation is beat by not being smashed?
I thought it was originally a brass composition 📯
Have you react Aviations - Outliers? The songs and the singer are awesome like this
check out SLOAN's analysis and about 28:00, he did side to side comparison on Complicated and you will see how her voice was looser but muddy in early days, but then grown tighter and clearer recently. which is a reverse engineering in nature that's highly unlikely to happen unless it's simply a different person. I'm gonna vote for it being a double and let Avril stay in my memories
I can't do the huuuh exercise without hurt :(
The szzz exercise is weird. I take my arms from behind to forward (not up), because i better manage to do the exercise when putting my voice back and forward, not up ( i feel like a wall on the top of my mouth when singing high pitches).
I don’t know the word but I don’t have a soprano voice, but I also don’t have a deep voice and I want to either find a nice middle ground or see how low I can go. I’d love to get into voice acting as a hobby 😊
To find out who is who find Mellisa and avril and put then together on interview just like howk touh girl they found her where she is and now case is done she is famous
it would never happened cause Melissa has never been existed
I immediately thought of Dimash Kudaibergen when you mentioned having to be physically gifted for an unnaturally wide range. I believe he has a range of 7 octaves, which is something I have never seen in anyone else. Also: super helpful video for someone who has a low female voice 💕
Yes! Great example! I believe he had had his vocal cords measured and they are longer than typical - which would make sense from a string/pitch physics standpoint. What’s crazy is, someone could be an accountant and have an exceptionally unique set of cords but if they don’t care to sing or push the limits of their voice, they may never know about it. I suppose it’s the same thing where not every tall person cares about playing basketball. 😆
@@voicehacks yes, makes so much sense! I always thought I had a terrible singing voice and therefore never tried to find my range, let alone sing. Lately I have been experimenting a little and found out about my voice type. I don’t know if I will ever be a good singer, but it’s worth working on it :)
Hell yes!!!!! ❤❤❤
This is really helpful. Back in music conservatory I was (mis)classified as a lyric coluratura but now believe I have always been more of a mezzo soprano. I have a naturally deeper speaking voice and actually wondered at one point if I could be a contralto because I can sing down to Bflat2. Upper range to F6, when I was younger it was A6 but we're talking whistle tones... I now (mix)belt up to Aflat5 on a good day, but prefer not to belt higher than F5. After listening to your video, I think my range/tessitura is closest to a mezzo soprano.
That’s great! Whatever helps us navigate this world of weird vocal sounds! Believe it or not I sang soprano in HS choir 🤷♀️😆 I was always a contralto hahaha but I dunno maybe we were short on people ambitious enough to go for the high notes 😆 when I got to college they were like yeah everything is gonna get moved wayyyyy down now 😆
If you still believe in this conspiracy, sorry but you are all retards. People change as they get older, even voice and attitude. study psychology so you'll understand.
I would like to learn how to sing. I am a contralto woman and would like to figure out how to get my middle range notes to work😂 all but my deepnotes are broken
Melissa Vandella or not, conspiracy theory true or not I prefer the old Avril, and her previous voice!
Because Melissa has a different voice! And they never imagine people could noticed that
That being said, Jesus is the Lord. God bless you all!
I'm to stupid. I don't get how this work or should work. There have to be fomething, where the air can produce this noise an it can't be in the middle of the mouth, because there is nothing to stop the air or produce any noise. The air can flow free. Where comes this sound from? Okay, not from the vocalcords but from a part of the mouth, but which?
Mostly from flapping tissues in the vestibular folds/false cords, soft palate and uvula and sinus cavities. Sometimes we also create double vibrations in our real vocal folds as well but you can’t feel that and wouldn’t really be aware of it from a touch sensation perspective. This may be unrealistic to learn just from videos, you’re not alone! That’s why I’m a full-time lesson teacher. You could try my False Cord playlists and see if they can help you access some of the tissues and the. come back to this.
You chose one of the worst songs Leprous have ever made. And it is still ok. To get a decent view of Leprous and Einar you should start with Contaminate Me and Castaway Angels etc.
Thanks!!!
Instead of killing herself, maybe la.reid killed her, because she wouldn't play ball?
I just feel like you guys don’t understand how much effort and money all that stuff takes and how even an artist Avril’s size at peak success pales in revenue generation compared to actors, for example, or many other types of entertainment businesses. I also just don’t think entertainment executives are mercenary/gangster level “hide the bodies” saavy enough to pull anything off even close to what you all suggest. They don’t have the budget nor the resources and that’s why it just doesn’t make sense. Why not just say screw it and promote a person posthumously and then make money off of new artists? Labels have always made money off of artists after their deaths and it’s been very profitable historically. So, I just don’t buy the conspiracy 🤷♀️
Wouldn't that be epic if Anne and Nancy reacted to this cover
YASSS
OMG i'd kill to have the isolated tracks to hear in full
This gives me so much more from one of my all time favorite songs. Thank you all for sharing the isolated tracks!

so so glad to hear it!
